I had a roof replaced by Matt Steck in 2018. It's required by state law to install a drip edge on all roof replacements. Matt charged me for a drip edge, but failed to install it. Bad company and misleading service. I will be following up with the North County Chambers of Commerce office to file a complaint and have his license revoked!

I have a 1250 sq. ft home and it took them 3 days to install a new roof. There were two guys that were on the roof and everytime we left home they just happened to be sitting down doing nothing. Our mail lady even made a joke about every time she passed by they were sitting down doing nothing! They took a satellite dish down which I told them they could, and they left it hanging over my fence in the backyard.
I told the owner and he attempted to take it with him when he came to pick up his money but claimed it was too heavy. He said he would send the workers back to pick it up that day. When that didn't happen we took their roofing sign used for advertisement down from our yard and placed it with the satellite dish they were supposed to pick up. Later that day we noticed the sign was gone but dish still in yard were the owner left it. Also the roofers did not clean up when they were done! All kind of roofing debris in my backyard! I would NOT use them ever again!

Matt is one of the least professional people I've worked with. He does not listen as you describe the issue, nor will he answer any questions or explain what his plan is to resolve the issues. I had Matt repair two spots on the roof that were leaking. He did not show up the day he said he would and I had to call him back to get him to go out there.
The next time it rained I found out that only one of the issues was actually fixed and called him to come look at that spot again. Of course he did not show up the day he said he would so I had to call him again to get him to come out and finish his work at which point he hung up on me when I asked if he'd actually be out that day. Would 100% not recommend.

Matt offers a warranty on his roofing but does not honor it! Found out siding materials his team used, were cut short so every time the wind blows siding pulls out. Soffits were not attached to anything so squirrels were able to push up and build nests. When we asked him to come out and look at the problems, he started yelling and cussing then hung up on us.
Then called us back and started cussing again and screaming again. We were in shock by his behavior and rudeness. Had to hire another roofer to replace and fix problems 5 years after he did a full roof, soffits and siding. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!

Customer Service and Professionalism is lacking; the rude behavior, misogynistic attitude, and lack of due diligence did not add to the experience when working with Matt, who came highly recommended by an older family member. I am a very independent woman who needed a roof put on my rental property and I felt as though I was treated as a second class citizen because I am a woman.
He was not like that before the roof was put on, but afterward, when just needed a lien waiver signed, he berated me badly for leaving him a voicemail at 8:30 pm. Keep in mind, he chose to call me back at 8:40 pm. I have had many people work on my rentals and have never been spoken to in this manner. With this type of degrading behavior, I will not recommend him for any job.

If Steck Roofing was to offer replacing my roof for free, I would say NO. He is very unprofessional, pushy and rude. I've told him several times that my husband and I will not be using his services; but, he insisted on coming to our house. This morning I found this man trespassing on our property and on my rooftop. I chased him out of my yard and told him once again NO, we will not be using your services.

I would give them negative stars if I could. Took Matt forever to come by after 3 rounds of calls. He offers a warranty but does not keep his word, once he finally arrives he says he got on the roof and check stuff out. He didn't, I have cameras and seen him pull up and ring my door bell. Once at my door he tells me he look at it and said the work is fine that I need a new chimney cap and he'll get one for me.
I haven't heard from Matt or anybody from the company in months. DO NOT! DO NOT! I REPEAT DO NOT! Give them the time of day you will just loose out on money and will still need the repair. Contacting the Better Business Bureau soon.

Wow. You can't get more unprofessional than this. I have used Matt Steck before, more than once. No problems. This time there was a problem and that was where "unprofessional" should never happen. I needed new gutters with the roof Matt Steck was installing. Matt subcontracted the gutter company. They were terrible. The gutters are terrible. The way the gutters were installed is terrible.
The guys that installed the gutters were terrible. Matt knew the gutters were terrible. In fact, he FIRED them. It did not make my gutters less terrible. First they showed up with the wrong color of gutter and Matt tried to make me take the color I didn't ask for. They put a "seamless" gutter on one side of my house that had a HUGE seam in the middle of it and the then told me I didn't understand "seamless".
Every corner leaked, they literally wrapped my satellite TV wire around one of the gutters and then installed it, making me have no TV on a Friday night before the weekend and costing me a service call in which the repairman had to cut the wire and splice it to get me up and running. That cost me. First rain, EVERY corner leaked. Every corner poured water.
No point in gutters if the water is going to drop straight down to the ground. So, apparently that is fixed, but I wouldn't know because it hasn't rained yet, On top of that the front gutter CAN'T drain because it bends upward. The painter power washed my house prior to painting and the water just stayed there. Both my contractor and painter told me the gutter wouldn't drain.
Too bad, according to Mr. Steck.he'd fixed the corners, so everything should be ok.in fact, while he was there he looked in the gutter and there was no water. Nevermind that is has been 95 to 100 degrees every day and water evaporates. So, instead of talking to me about it, he called me a "f'ing" liar and screamed, cussed and screamed some more. No he wasn't fixing the gutters, he'd ALREADY fixed the gutters according to him.
I was cussed so much that the landscape foreman started towards Mr. Steck before he finally left, still not letting me get a word in edgewise. But not until he told me I had free gutters and free gutter screens. I told him I had no problem paying him when the gutters worked correctly. I had already paid him over eight thousand dollars for the roof, I wasn't NOT going to pay him, however, he thought it would be better to scream some more and cuss some more.at the top of his lungs.
It was the most unprofessional display I have ever seen. He left. And then called my cell phone and left two more angry messages saying he had every right to behave the way he had. He went as far as to say he would not fix my roof if there was a problem with the new roofing even though he was paid in full for the roof. (It's ok, that's recorded). If he comes back and fixes the gutter, I will pay him. However, I am a female and I would not want to be around him with the way he acted.
I would not recommend this guy anywhere near your house, for that matter. There are plenty of other companies that will treat you with respect, this is not one of them. The guy is scary.
